A love of fabric and design began on a Massachusetts kitchen table in 1976. Six-year-old Tracy received a Holly Hobbie sewing machine as a birthday present. The first crude items produced from the small machine included purses and small pillows which were shared with family and friends.
Design became a theme. In 1992, Tracy received her degree in Graphic Design. For the next ten years, she worked at firms in Boston and eventually in and around the Washington DC area. She and her husband Jeff had two boys in that time. With the birth of their youngest son, Tracy transitioned from full-time designer to full-time Mom.
In the few years following that transition, the Holly Hobbie sewing machine was replaced by a newer more reliable model. Sewing was still done on a kitchen table, and still for family and friends who were all starting their own families. A business was born.
Tracy and Jeff now live outside Charlotte, North Carolina with their boys and Boston Terrier. The business has grown along with their children. Local boutiques & online retailers now carry Monarch Creations products. The products are no longer created on a kitchen table. They're manafactured in North Carolina, by another woman owned business. With North Carolina's rich history in textiles, it was important to Tracy that manufacturing remained local.
The basic love of fabric and design have never changed. From the hand selection of fabrics and their combinations, all the way through to the professional finishing, each piece is lovingly created with form and function in mind. Rest assured, you're getting a true labor of love with each Monarch Creations piece.
